Our Approach

Every layout decision serves a purpose

A well-designed website doesn’t just look professional — it controls where the visitor looks, what they read first, how quickly they trust you, and whether they take action. That’s not subjective taste. It’s visual hierarchy, information architecture, and conversion strategy working together.

01Mobile-First

Mobile-First Design

Google indexes the mobile version of your site first — regardless of how many visitors come from desktop. In North America, desktop still accounts for a little over half of web traffic, but mobile-first indexing means the mobile layout determines your search rankings. We design mobile first and scale up to desktop, not the other way around. The result ranks well, loads fast on every device, and doesn’t sacrifice usability at any screen size.

02Conversion

Conversion-Informed Layout

Visual hierarchy isn’t decorative — it’s conversion architecture. Where the CTA sits relative to the fold, how social proof is positioned near decision points, how whitespace directs attention, how the page flows on scroll. Every layout decision is informed by how visitors scan, read, and decide. Design and CRO strategy are developed together — not by separate teams who never talk.

CRO & Landing Pages
03Performance

Performance-Aware Design Decisions

Design choices directly impact site speed. A full-bleed 4K background video tanks your PageSpeed before the visitor reads a word. A third-party icon CDN adds 200ms to every page. Custom fonts with 12 weights add render-blocking overhead. We choose image formats, limit font weights, specify lazy-load boundaries, and design layouts that don’t need heavy JavaScript to function.

Web Performance
04Responsive

Responsive Across Real Devices

We don’t design for three breakpoints and call it done. We design for the actual devices your visitors use — phones, tablets, laptops, wide monitors — and test across real screen sizes, not just the Figma artboard widths. Touch targets, font scaling, form usability, and navigation behavior are all designed per device context.

05Accessibility

Accessibility From the First Mockup

WCAG 2.1 AA compliance starts in design, not in development. Color contrast ratios are checked against AA thresholds during the design phase. Heading hierarchy is planned before a single page is built. Interactive elements are sized for keyboard and screen reader users. If the design isn’t accessible, the build can’t be either.

06System

Component-Based Design System

Headers, footers, cards, forms, CTAs, section layouts, navigation patterns — all designed as reusable components with consistent spacing, sizing, and behavior across pages. This isn’t just a design philosophy — it directly impacts development speed, maintenance cost, and visual consistency as the site grows.

How We Work

Figma-first. Approved before code.

Every project is designed in Figma with full-fidelity mockups. You see exactly what your site will look like on desktop, tablet, and mobile before any development begins. Nothing is improvised during the build.

1

Discovery & Content Strategy

We start with your content — not placeholder text. The layout is shaped by what the page actually needs to say. If content doesn’t exist yet, we work with you to outline it before design begins.

2

Wireframes & Layout Architecture

Structural layouts showing page flow, content placement, CTA positions, and responsive behavior. No colors, no typography — just the architecture. This is where conversion strategy is embedded.

3

Full-Fidelity Mockups

Desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts with final typography, color, imagery, and spacing. Interactive prototypes where needed. This is the approval milestone — what you sign off on is what gets built.

4

Design Handoff

Annotated Figma files with spacing specs, color tokens, font weights, component states, and responsive behavior notes. The development team builds from a precise specification, not a screenshot.

Deliverables

What a design phase delivers

  • Full Figma design files — you own them, for print, social, or internal work
  • Desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts for every unique page template
  • Reusable component library with consistent spacing and behavior
  • Typography scale and color specifications
  • Interactive prototypes (where applicable)
  • Brand guidelines document (if developed during the project)
  • Responsive behavior documentation for development handoff
  • Two to three structured revision rounds with clear deliverables

Where Clients Start

Bring your brand. Or build one.

You have a brand already.

Logo, colors, brand guidelines, maybe existing marketing materials. We translate your existing brand into a web design system — consistent, cohesive, and optimized for screen. The design file becomes the single source of truth that keeps everything aligned.

You’re starting fresh.

No logo, no brand guidelines, no existing site. We develop the visual identity alongside the web design — logo direction, color palette, typography, tone — so everything is built as one cohesive system from the start.

For Agencies & Design Teams

We build from your Figma files too

If you’re a marketing agency, a design studio, or a freelance designer who needs a development partner, we build from third-party Figma files regularly. We’ll review your file for build feasibility and flag anything that needs adjustment before development starts.

Have the design? We build it

That said, not all Figma files are development-ready. Designs built without CMS, performance, or accessibility in mind create friction during development:

  • iMishandled breakpoints
  • iiNon-AA-compliant color choices
  • iiiUnoptimized image specifications
  • ivComponent structures that don’t translate to a responsive build

Our published guidelines cover breakpoints, image specs, AA contrast minimums, component naming, and CMS-aware layout so your handoff goes smoothly.

Design Meets Performance

What your designer chooses affects your PageSpeed score

Design and performance aren’t separate conversations. They’re the same conversation. Here’s how design decisions directly impact your site’s technical performance.

+2s

Load time

Image Decisions

A full-bleed hero at 4000px and 2MB adds 2+ seconds to load. We specify dimensions, formats (WebP/AVIF), and compression during design so development doesn’t have to guess — or compromise.

16

Font files

Font Loading

Every custom font weight is a network request. Eight weights plus italics means 16 files before text renders. We limit weights in the design system and specify fallback behavior so text is visible immediately.

CLS

Layout shift

Animation & Interaction

Scroll-triggered animations, parallax, and complex hover states all require JavaScript. We design interactions that enhance the experience without heavy libraries or layout shift.

1.5MB

Embed weight

Third-Party Embeds

That YouTube embed in the hero? 1.5MB of JavaScript before your visitor sees the video. We design with embed performance in mind — facades, lazy loading, and lightweight alternatives.

Common Questions

Before you ask

How many revision rounds are included?›

Typically two to three structured rounds per phase (wireframes, mockups, responsive). Each round has a clear deliverable and a feedback window. Additional rounds are scoped transparently.

Can I use the Figma files for other projects?›

Yes. You own the design files. Use them for print, social, presentations — whatever you need. We deliver the original Figma files, not flattened exports.

What if I already have a design from another designer?›

We build from third-party Figma files. We’ll review for build feasibility and flag any adjustments needed for performance, responsiveness, or accessibility. Check our Designer Handoff Guidelines for what makes a file development-ready.

How long does the design phase take?›

Typically 2–4 weeks depending on the number of unique page templates and the complexity of the layout. We’ll give you a clear timeline in the proposal.

Do you design in anything other than Figma?›

No. Figma is our design tool. If you have existing assets in Sketch, XD, or another tool, we can import and work from them, but all design work happens in Figma.

Can you design without building?›

We can, but our strongest work comes from designing and building together. When the design team knows exactly how the site will be built, every decision is more informed — and the result is a site where nothing is lost in translation.
